New Acquisitions: Robert Brinker

The spindly, hard-edge works of Robert Brinker are dense, elaborate superstructures built on a foundation of curved lines and bright colors. Brinker is still young, but has exhibited nationally at a number of reputable galleries and belongs to many private collections (you can view the full list at http://www.etrafineart.com/index/#/robert-brinker/ ).

At times, the curved lines and ecstatic colors call to mind a tropical metro map or the lace of seafoam on tide. Come stop by our "Highlights 2016" showcase this Art Week and check out more of Brinker's work.

New Acquisitions: Yigit Yazici

One look at Istanbul native Yigit Yazici's work is enough to transport the viewer to alternate worlds. Through a signature loose, vibrantly colorful style, Yazici transforms familiar forms into collisions of vibrating lines and eye-popping colors.

On first view, Yazici's works may appear to be digital, with their smoothed forms and outlined strokes. However, Yazici instead painstakingly emulates that style with paint on canvas, and the results are astounding. Even more impressive is the clarity each object is afforded within the chaotic lines and compositions. Each piece depicts recognizable objects or pieces thereof, and it's a fun detective game to try and figure out what each composition is showing.

Andriy Halashyn's Miami Debut at Etra Fine Art

If you don't know the name Andriy Halashyn, take note. This Ukrainian-born, Costa Rican-living painter is making waves in the art world, and Etra Fine Art is proud to be the first to represent him in South Florida.

Halashyn's works bridge the gap between pop and surrealism, with desolate landscapes setting the scene for iconic figures and props to populate. The push-pull dynamic between the terrifying, real world landscapes of destruction and the glamorous, chaotic and benign figures in the foreground creates an uneasy tension that is at once alarming, humorous, satirical and playful.

Tantalizing and playful at first glance, Andriy's colorful forms and impeccable painter's hand conceal a deeper meaning. For those who look beyond the surface, a world balanced carefully on the brink of destruction is alluded to -- if we, as a society, can manage to look past the beautiful models, shiny toys, opulent decadence, and carefree activities that permeate the foreground.

Catch more pieces by Halashyn at our Art Basel showcase, "Highlights 2016", on view now at Etra Fine Art. Read up on his biography and exhibitions at http://www.etrafineart.com/index/#/andriy-halashyn/

Viewing Venezuelan native Gisseline Amiuny's work is an exercise in space-time travel. Her lightboxes depict complex geometric forms with little more than layers of etched acrylic and LED lights, creating ghostly 3D shapes via adherence to rigid mathematics.
